SHOPMETRICS GRADING FAQ.
Completeness and Quality of Information
Should I use my own photos for the evaluation?
Yes, always use your own photos taken at the time of the evaluation and write your own narratives based on the experience from the evaluation day. Otherwise, your report/questionnaire could be considered fraudulent and may not be processed for payment.
Meeting the Scenario
What should I check before attempting the evaluation?
Please carefully review the Project Briefing and check the sticky notes before attempting the evaluation. Also, it is crucial to review the report/questionnaire prior to your visit to ensure you make note of key points during the evaluation.
How should I construct my narratives?
Narratives should be based on observable facts. Opinions should only be included when requested in the report/questionnaire and should be written professionally and based on actual observations.
Project Specific Vocabulary
What language should I avoid in the report/questionnaire?
Please use the verbiage as per the report/questionnaire. Whenever possible, avoid language related to mystery shopping, such as “scenario,” “shop,” “assignment,” and references to taking photos or the guidelines/instructions. The report/questionnaire should read as though you are an actual customer.
POVs (Proof of Visit)
What are the requirements for uploading images and audio files?
Please upload good-quality images, taken by you at the time of the evaluation. They should not be blurry. For more details, please refer to the POV-Tips for evaluators slide within the Project Briefing.
What are the requirements for uploading audio?
Any audio uploaded should be clear. We must be able to hear what was recorded.
Report/questionnaire Accuracy
How should my Yes/No answers relate to my comments?
Always double-check your report to ensure all your answers are aligned with your comments. For example, if you answer that the location was clean, your comments should not mention the location being unkept.
Is it acceptable to use ALL CAPS?
No, you should never use ALL CAPS when completing your report/questionnaire, as this increases our editing time and could negatively impact your grade.
Response to Queries
What should I do if the editing team requests more information?
Occasionally, the editing team may need to request more information from evaluators. After submitting a report/questionnaire, always monitor your email for requests from the editing team. Please respond to queries within 12 hours, and be sure to check your spam folder as our messages may occasionally get flagged erroneously.

What are the spelling and grammar guidelines for narratives?
Capitalize “I” when referring to yourself. Capitalize brand names. Make sure you always spell out numbers under ten. If writing out times in a 12-hour format, AM/PM should be in all caps.
